„The Polish and European Energy Security Conference”

9th - 10th of June 2010

On the 9th and 10th of June 2010, in Warsaw „The Polish and European Energy Security Conference” was held. The aim of the conference was to strengthen the public debate on issues concerning Polish energy security, also in the international context. The conference enabled the establishment of the a channel for communication for the government representatives, NGOs and governmental agencies, research and scientific bodies, specialized press and companies operating in the sector.

The conference gathered distinguished members of the Polish public, remarkable experts in energetic market issues, representatives of academics and businessmen. The debate was chaired by Janusz Steinhoff, vice Prime Minister and the Minister for the Economy in Jerzy Buzek’s government and by Andrzej Jonas, Editor-in-Chief of „The Warsaw Voice”.

Among many other issues concerning energy, special attention was given to renewable energy sources. Bartosz Konratowski, legal adviser and partner in our office was invited as an expert to the clean energy panel discussion. Mr. Konratowski presented essential legal issues referring to business involved in the wind energy field.

The fundamental question of the debate was to analyze whether it would be possible to achieve a 15% share of the total energy supplied in Poland through renewable sources by 2020.

Considerable meaning in achieving this goal will be the increase of power capacity installed through wind energy. The critical group of our clients are entities operating in the wind energy sector. Thanks to our cooperation with them, our office acquired thorough and specialist knowledge of the wind energy market specifics, along with the solid experience in providing them with legal services and the awareness of formal challenges they face.

Nosowski, Konratowski and Partners decided to speak at the conference, not only through their competence, but also through their belief of the essential necessity of speaking out for their clients whenever circumstances surrounding their business are discussed.
